Bioenergy Feedstocks and Sustainability
Biomass feedstocks are a source of significant debate throughout the world with higher food prices and rainforest destruction often being associated with energy feedstock production. As such the logic for using biomass to mitigate climate change impact resulting from gross energy production & consumption is now being challenged throughout the supply chain, with end users having to meet mandatory criteria and performance targets for sustainability put in place by Governments and industry regulators with respect to the sourcing and use of biomass fuel supplies.
To support our customers, Vogen will only process feedstock which meets the compliance criteria required and is committed to adopting a Procurement Policy which is both transparent and auditable for the feedstocks that we use and ultimately supply to end users for heat and electricity production. Indeed to ensure compliance and whilst also providing a valuable added service offering, our operations can be set up to include both tracking and traceability functions – thus removing such burden from our customers and helping to manage their pricing and brand exposure risk.
We also work to a robust operational model in our own right for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) footprint reduction, feedstock procurement, scheduling, processing and logistics for our plants in order to demonstrate compliance with mandatory GHG reduction targets, whilst still producing a high quality and competitively priced wood pellet.
The management team here at Vogen Energy are committed to establishing the company as a global showcase for sustainable bioenergy fuel production and supply chain management. If you are a bio-energy feedstock producer and feel that your operating philosophy and practices accords with our own, then we’d like to hear from you to discuss ways we might be able to further work together under medium to long term business scenarios.
